With growing interest in probabilistic assessments of structural integrity, there is an increasing need for techniques for determination of probability of cracking in welds, and associated crack size distributions. It has long been appreciated that the risk of heat affected zone (HAZ) fabrication hydrogen cracking can be minimised by selection of appropriate parameters, and techniques for determining these parameters exist.
Expand the probabilistic model to include lower hydrogen scales
- Include uncertainties associated with compositional parameters in the probabilistic model
- Develop a method for using the probability determined by the probabilistic model (which related to cracking in a single pass fillet weld, 75mm long), to account for longer weld lengths in real structures.
