Offshore Energy Technical Group Event Announced

Tue, 05 October, 2021

The Welding Institute’s Online Technical Group Events have returned for their 2021/2022 season with the announcement of a first online event to be delivered by the Offshore Energy Technical Group.

Titled, ‘Advances in Offshore Pipeline Repairs,’ the event will take place on 9 November from 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM (UK Time).

The event is set to cover the current state-of-the-art in subsea pipeline repair systems. With subsea pipelines being subjected to a range of environmental factors that can cause them to require maintenance, this event will include details of actual examples from recent pipeline repair projects, plus a glimpse of the future with the development of a new robotic friction stir welding system at TWI.

The event will be of interest to professionals working in the oil, gas and energy industries.

The panel of speakers is formed of experts across industry and includes Giuseppe Rizzo from Oceaneering® with a presentation titled, ‘Oceaneering Pipeline Repair Systems - Technical and Case Study Review,’ TWI Friction and Forge Processes Principal Project Leader, Stephen Cater with a talk titled ‘Friction Stir Welding of Steel for Pipelines,’ and also Ron James from STATS Group.
