An Insight into Welding Engineering

Welding engineers, David Bage and James Bell joined us for the latest ‘Undistilled Engineering’ podcast.

With decades of industry experience between them, they both opened up about their careers to date, including how and why they became involved in the profession. They also spoke about how their work has opened up opportunities to travel and how welding engineering provides a lifestyle alongside a wage.

The wide-ranging and informative discussion also saw David and James also explore topics including how to make engineering an appeal to the next generation, the current state of British engineering, funding, and the changing face of engineering around the globe.

Having begun his career as an apprentice welder, David has worked in the oil and gas, transport and telecommunications industries as well as having spent time as a high school teacher and technical college lecturer, before joining TWI.
