TWI / The Welding Institute CEO, Caroline Gumble has been named as part of Make UK’s 130 Honours initiative.
The initiative, created in partnership with Barclays, was launched on National Manufacturing Day UK (24 September) to mark 130 years of Make UK and celebrate the people helping to shape the future of British manufacturing.
The honourees have been chosen from across England and Wales to celebrate those who are driving industry forward, spanning a diverse range of sectors, regions and roles, and including people from businesses or all sizes - from SMEs to larger manufacturers as well as the wider supply chain.
Caroline was recognised for “Championing engineering excellence, innovation and professional development, driving transformational change while strengthening technical skills, industry collaboration and the future competitiveness of UK manufacturing.”
When asked by Make UK what excites her the most about the future of industry, Caroline responded, “The opportunities are exciting, in an era where people and AI will combine to provide industry with new solutions and opportunities, which will benefit the economy, society, the environment, and humanity.”
Speaking on the 130 Honours initiative, Make UK CEO Stephen Phipson CBE, said, “Our new 130 Honours initiative, in partnership with Barclays, is a fitting way to mark National Manufacturing Day and 130 years of Make UK by recognising the people powering our industry. It celebrates the engineers, specialists, innovators and emerging talent whose skills and ideas are shaping the future of UK manufacturing.”

We are delighted that Caroline has been recognised this National Manufacturing Day as one of The 130 Honours, which demonstrates the esteem in which she, and by extension TWI / The Welding Institute, is held.
