Several TWI representatives were in attendance at DVD2026 (Defence Vehicle Dynamics) at UTAC Millbrook in Bedfordshire from 16-17 September 2026.
TWI’s Senior Defence Sector Manager, Charlotte Tasker-Blake was joined at the event by Senior Engineer Karl Chisholm, Head of Training Sales for the UK and EU Rory Lipington, and Director of Technology Malcolm Lee. As well as answering queries related to welding, friction processes, cold spray, non-destructive testing, and TWI Training, we were pleased to give attendees the opportunity to try their hand at augmented reality (AR) welding with equipment from Seabery. TWI were also joined by Les Gregory, representing industrial members Titomic on the stand and exemplifying the importance of repair technologies for the demands of today.
DVD is the UK’s biennial defence industry exhibition, with this year’s event being sponsored by the National Armaments Director Group and Army Headquarters. The event brings together the defence industry, delivery teams, and users of land equipment for two days of collaboration, innovation and demonstrations.
With its focus on land warfare, DVD2026 took the theme of ‘Connected for Combat,’ showing how people, systems and decisions reflect a critical evolution in how modern defence capabilities are generated while highlighting the need for joined up thinking, integrated force elements and coherent decision-making. TWI technologies represent the forefront of these next-generation platforms, enabling rapid manufacturing, critical safety validations, and enhanced longevity and repair for through-life support.
Defence industry partners, the armed forces, government and other industry sectors were able to combine their experience and strengths to demonstrate how we can design, deliver and exploit the capabilities our army and nation need.
