Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, Princess Anne visited TWI / The Welding Institute at Granta Park outside Cambridge on 7 July, 2026.
Having officially opened three new buildings at the TWI headquarters, on 16 April, 2018, she returned during The Welding, Joining and Manufacturing Conference and Exhibition (WeldJoinExpo), the premier event for welding, joining and allied technologies in the UK.
During her visit, The Princess Royal and her delegation were given a tour of the facilities, including the main engineering hall, while also taking time to speak with staff and visitors to the event.

Caroline Gumble, CEO of TWI / The Welding Institute, said, “We are delighted to be able to welcome Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal back to TWI / The Welding Institute in her capacity as an Honorary Fellow of The Institute. Our staff and visitors at today’s event were impressed by her interest in and knowledge of materials joining technologies and her continued commitment towards STEM professions.”
