We are pleased to announce the publication of a new cold spray research paper, ‘A Review of Portable Low-Pressure and Medium-Pressure Cold Spray Repairs: Process Window, Deposition Behaviour, and Deposit Integrity.’
Published by the Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI) in Basel, Switzerland, the publication came out of the PhD research of Kwadwo Owusu Asamoah who is based at TWI and sponsored by the Lloyd’s Register Foundation in collaboration with Coventry University.
Kwadwo’s PhD project, ‘Portable Cold Spray for Repair of Light Metal Components,’ has focused on the development and application of portable cold spray technology for the repair of light metal components.
This research is of particular interest as the majority of the open literature focuses on high-pressure cold spray, with only a relatively small body of work addressing low-pressure and medium-pressure portable systems. This review paper brings together the available research and highlights the potential of these technologies for on-site repair and maintenance of engineering components.
The PhD project has been overseen by TWI’s Dr Dibakor Boruah, Senior Project Leader at Metallurgy, Corrosion and Surfacing, who has served as the industrial supervisor for the project.
