TWI to Attend GSTP Event in Poland

Wed, 20 September, 2023

Experts from TWI are travelling to Gdansk in Poland to attend the GSTP event organised by the Polish Space Agency and the European Space Agency (ESA).

Being held at the Sheraton Sopot Hotel in Gdansk from 26-27 September 2023, this 30th anniversary event will include insights into 20 technologies, 7 key panel meetings, and 4 cutting-edge topics over two days. Along with the two days of presentations and lectures there will be discussions about GSTP’s past and a glimpse at what the next 30 years of development may hold.

TWI Principal Project Leader, Derek Holiver will be presenting on the topic of ‘Advanced Forming Technologies for Complex Shapes’ at the event. His presentation is drawn from work completed by TWI alongside the University of Strathclyde's Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC) and Airbus Defence and Space to explore alternative methods for the manufacture of titanium and aluminium propellant tanks that could save both materials and costs.

In addition, Derek will be joined by TWI Section Manager, Sofia del Pozo and Space Industry Growth Manager, Vito di Pietro at the event where they will man a booth to provide more information on TWI’s services to the space industry.

About GTSP

The GSTP was created in 1993 as part of the ESA’s long-term plans to ensure they remained ahead of important new technologies. Working with academia, industry and participating states, the GSTP seeks to predict which technologies could drive the future of space exploration as well as seeing which innovative technologies could be adapted from use on Earth to space-ready applications.

GSTP Industry Days are open to industry, academia and SMEs who would like to share in these discussions, and you can find out more and register to attend, here.

We look forward to seeing you there!
