TWI Research and Product Development Programme Manager, Shiladitya Paul is due to attend the first AMPP Annual Conference and Expo, which is being held 6-10 March 2022 in San Antonio, Texas, USA.
Shiladitya is organising a workshop on 9 March from 9am-12pm titled, ‘Thermal and Cold Spray Coatings Forum - Processes, Applications and Challenges.’ This workshop will cover discussions on thermal and cold spray coatings for mitigation of corrosion and wear, including the latest research and field experience on thermal spray coatings, materials, processes, and strategies for corrosion control. The group will also discuss conventional and novel thermal and cold spray coating systems used to prevent corrosion and wear in industries including offshore and onshore wind, oil and gas, subsea and marine, construction, chemical industry, refinery, construction, automotive, power, and aerospace.
He will then present a paper in a session dedicated to corrosion in supercritical systems between 10am and 10:55am on 9 March. The paper, ‘Effect of H2S on the Performance of Welded 13% Cr Steel in Supercritical CO2,’ details a range of tests on welded 13% Cr steel and the results of the post-test examination of the specimens.
In addition, Shiladitya will Chair a session on ‘Thermal and Cold Spray Coatings’ on 10 March between 8am and 2pm, where he will also present a paper from the Horizon 2020-funded GeoSmart Project, which TWI has been involved in.
The session, including Shiladitya’s presentation, will feature technical papers on all aspects of thermal and cold spray coatings that are used to mitigate corrosion of metallic and reinforced concrete structures. This will include a focus on topics such as surface preparation, coating consumable selection, spray method selection, spray parameter development, in-line quality and inspection, testing and qualification, operational experience, cost reduction, maintenance and repair, among others.
The AMPP Annual Conference and Expo 2022 features a whole week of dynamic programming, solutions, and discovery designed to bring together customers, partners, and thought leaders.
