GeoHex Project featured in Heat Exchanger World Magazine

Thu, 24 March, 2022

The GeoHex project, which includes involvement from TWI, has been featured in a new article published by Heat Exchanger World Magazine.

TWI’s GeoHex project leader and coordinator, Namrata Kale and metallurgist, Imran Bhamji, who is acting as the technical lead on the project, spoke with writer, Ellie Pritchard for the article, titled, ‘The GeoHex Project: Anticorrosive Coatings for Geothermal Heat Exchangers.’

The in-depth story introduces the challenges faced by the geothermal sector and how coatings applied to heat exchangers can improve heat transfer, scaling and corrosion performance, while also reducing maintenance costs and improving plant profitability.

These improvements have the potential to extend the use of geothermal energy by allowing unviable low temperature resources to become viable.

As well as giving an overview of the technologies, techniques and testing procedures being used in the GeoHex project, the article details the challenges that still need addressing.

A truly international project, GeoHex has brought together knowledge and expertise from 13 companies to improve and enhance the use of heat exchangers in geothermal energy production.
