Friction Stir Welding Symposium to Provide EV Update

TWI will be chairing a special session on the electric vehicle (EV) market during the 13th International Symposium on Friction Stir Welding in Kyoto, Japan.

With the Symposium due to take place between 26 and 28 May, 2020, the special session will detail how EV is driving Friction Stir Welding (FSW) technology and developments.

These developments include those within product design, productivity, automated manufacturing cells, cost-effective FSW tools, inspection and quality assurance.

With the world’s leading system and service providers due to be in attendance, this special session will include product and service presentations from names including:

Each will present on how they are helping to meet the demands of electrification for the automotive sector, providing a unique opportunity to hear what is happening in this high volume market and the chance to talk to the major suppliers all in one location.

TWI would strongly encourage anyone interested in this field to attend the Symposium and particularly this session.

About the 13th International Symposium on Friction Stir Welding

Sponsored and supported by the Joining and Welding Research Institute, Osaka University, the FSW Symposium will also combine as the Third International Joint Symposium on Joining and Welding.

This is a unique global forum providing the opportunity for professionals from around the world to share and develop scientific and technical knowledge on Friction Stir Welding. The event will include three days of oral and poster presentations.

The Symposium will be held in Kyoto, the former capital of Japan and the location of 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Kyoto is famous for its numerous classical Buddhist temples, as well as gardens, imperial palaces, Shinto shrines, and traditional wooden houses.

The Symposium is being held at the Kyoto ICC, one of Japan’s premier conference centres.
