A number of experts from TWI are due to attend the annual European Corrosion Congress (Eurocorr) in Seville, Spain from 9-13 September 2019.
The event attracts over one thousand delegates each year, bringing together experts from around the world for a series of technical sessions as well as presentations of papers related to corrosion.
The TWI staff set to attend include:
- Materials Group Research and Product Development Programme Manager, Shiladitya Paul
- Stainless Steels and Non-Ferrous Alloys Section Manager, Kasra Sotoudeh
- Stainless Steels and Non-Ferrous Alloys Principal Project Leader, Briony Holmes
- Asset Integrity Management Team Manager, Payam Jamshidi
- Asset Integrity Management Principal Project Leader, Chi Lee
- Materials Performance and Ferrous Alloys Senior Project Leader, Maria Eleni Mitzithra
Shiladitya Paul, who has been the Vice-Chairman of the Marine Corrosion Working Party (WP9) of the European Federation of Corrosion since 2017 and the secretary since 2016, will co-chair two sessions; one about Marine Corrosion and the other detailing Microbial Corrosion in Marine Environments. Shiladitya, who has written over 30 papers in the field of marine corrosion and coatings will also present a paper on ‘Performance of metallic coatings in supercritical CO2.’
Kasra Sotoudeh will be attending the working party on Corrosion in Oil and Gas Production.
Briony Holmes will present TWI’s recent work on Stress Relaxation Cracking to the Corrosion in the Refinery and Petrochemistry Industry working party, as well as presenting a paper about ‘Atmospheric corrosion study of stainless steels with different contamination and surface finishes.’
Dr. Payam Jamshidi will present a paper on ‘Improving Structural Integrity Assessment of Well Conductors Using Various Inspection Techniques.’
Dr. Chi-Ming Lee will present recent work completed at TWI on corrosion under insulation, while colleagues will present two papers that he co-authored; ‘Using industry data to compare performance of different risk-based methods for the management of corrosion under insulation’ and ‘Atmospheric corrosion study of stainless steel with different contamination and surface finishes.’
Maria Eleni Mitzithra will be presenting a paper on ‘Crevice corrosion testing of C276 material in chlorinated seawater at high temperature for heat exchangers system.’
