TWI at Automotive Research Association of India event

Tue, 08 January, 2019

The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) are holding a training event detailing Joining Processes for Automotive Application on the 14th and 15th January, 2019.

The event, which will be held at the ARAI-Forging Industry Division, Chakan, in Pune, India, will see three experts from TWI sharing their knowledge.

Corporate Sector Manager, Chris Wiseman, will be joined by Automotive Programme Manager, Sullivan Smith, and Consultant Welding Engineer, Marcello Consonni, who will deliver talks on modern vehicle construction.

The event will include discussions of modern automotive structures, including the use of traditional low carbon steels, coated steels, high strength and ultra-high strength steels, aluminium sheets, extrusions and castings.

Special considerations are required for the joining of these materials for the automotive industry, in particular with regard to determining which technologies are most appropriate.

The joining processes that are to be explored at the event include a variety of resistance welding processes, friction joining, adhesive bonding, laser and arc welding, electron beam transition forgings, a number of riveting methods, and more.

The 2-day programme will include a written test on the final day as well as certification for attendees to demonstrate the knowledge gained from the event.
