Adhesives, Composites and Sealants expert, Ewen Kellar is due to speak at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ Adhesive Bonding Seminar on 15 October 2019. Ewen’s talk entitled Bonding Composites for the Rough and Tumble of the Real World will focus on challenges associated with bonding composites for structural applications, hybrid joining, surface preparation and durability.
The seminar will showcase a range of case studies on the use of adhesives across engineering, including discussions around formulation, surface preparation, dispensing, and testing to discover how to enhance the performance of adhesives in industry.
There will be information provided on the challenges related to design, manufacture and asset management with experts in attendance to address these concerns and provide tools to meet the demanding commercial and regulatory requirements.
As manufacturers in automotive and aerospace engineering are reducing their reliance on mechanical fasteners and light-weighting their assemblies, there are associated improvements to fuel efficiency, without the loss of revenue through reduced production schedules.
The seminar will also show how engineers are using adhesives in the manufacture of large components such as turbine blades and aircraft wings as well as using adhesives to support the growing reliance on composites in engineering.
