TWI’s Friction and Forge Processes Team have recruited a new senior project leader, Kate Franklin.
Kate decided to join TWI as she recognised the company as a leader in industry after she completed her PhD with the University of Birmingham.
Her PhD was completed in collaboration with Rolls Royce on the topic of the mechanical and microstructural properties of inertia friction welded next generation nickel superalloys.
With experience in metallurgy and having undertaken fatigue, tensile and creep testing during her studies, Kate brings a wealth of knowledge to TWI, which she hopes to build upon as her career progresses.
Outside of work, Yorkshire-born Kate represents Great Britain in Australian Rules Football and recently competed in the European Championships.
