Amanda has been employed by TWI since 2004 and has successfully progressed from Non-Technical Business Support through to Senior Technical Project Leader. Her current role involves research and development of Additive Manufacturing technologies, predominantly Selective Laser Melting (SLM).
Amanda says, 'Throughout my journey at TWI, I have gained extensive experience in developing, managing and delivering a large range of technical projects. TWI also supported me through my Bachelor’s Degree in Materials Science, which was undertaken on a part-time basis alongside full-time employment here.'
Amanda continues, 'There are many aspects of my role that I enjoy, but for me it is about variety and the environment in which I work. I get to work on a range of projects from small internal feasibility studies up to multi-million pound collaborative research and development projects. I am involved in the section’s business and development activities, giving me the opportunity to meet and develop new relationships. I also get to be involved in how we plan and drive the future development of the section’s technology and innovation. Added to this, I work within a positive team environment that focuses on working together to achieve both corporate and section goals and objectives.
'It was a passion for the Additive Manufacturing technology, coupled with the inspiration of my colleagues here, that spurred my career direction.'
