Dr Matthew Doré CEng, FWeldI, AMICE, our Technology Fellow for Structural Integrity of Metallic Materials, will present at the first-ever TWI Technology Fellows’ Day on 15 May, 2025.
Matthew’s presentation on the day will discuss, ‘Fatigue Design and Testing in Aggressive Environments.’
During this presentation, Matthew will provide for context a brief overview of the nuclear landscape and the current integrity challenges facing the industry. He will describe and compare the various design codes and standards in use, focusing primarily on those used within the UK.
Following an overview of the basic fundamentals of fatigue design of welds, the key materials testing services provided by TWI, primarily relating to fatigue in aggressive environments, will be presented and the importance of the understanding of the effects from such an environment will be discussed.
Within Matthew’s presentation, he also aims to highlight TWI’s strong background in bespoke testing, showcasing what has been developed to support TWI’s Industrial Members, to further highlight how TWI can support the nuclear industry.
Our in-person Technology Fellows’ Day will bring together the world-leading expertise of our Technology Fellows, each of whom are experts in their fields, having made a genuine difference to industry through their knowledge and leadership. The day will focus on challenges and solutions for nuclear and fusion with crossover to other industries.
