TWI MENA Hosts Successful Webinar on Robotic Inspection

TWI MENA hosted a successful and engaging "Robotic Inspection - Increasing Benefits to the Energy Industry” webinar on 17 April 2024. The event was well-received and featured stellar speakers from TWI, SPRINT Robotics, and Chevron, offering participants valuable insights into the latest developments in robotic inspection technologies and their applications in the energy industry. The webinar was a huge success with a large number of people attending and actively engaged in the Q&A session.

The webinar covered a diverse array of topics, providing attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Here's a breakdown of the key discussions:

  • Introduction to TWI Ltd and Industrial Membership:
    Ameni Lounissi, TWI's Construction and Engineering Sector Manager, kicked off the webinar by introducing TWI and its Industrial Membership programme.
  • Introduction to TWI Global Technical Solutions:
    Ali Elkordi, Regional Engineering Manager for TWI MENA, provided insights into TWI's Global Technical Solutions.
  • Introduction to SPRINT Robotics:
    Niels Westendorp, Chief Business Development Officer at Quasset and Programme Manager of the SPRINT Robotics European Chapter shed light on the role of robotics in enhancing reliability and integrity in the energy industry.
  • Case Studies of Robotic Inspection Development Projects:
    Richard Lewis and Ross Hanna from TWI delved into case studies showcasing the practical applications of robotic inspection technologies. These case studies covered a range of projects, including large-scale inspection of non-metallic structures and the development of advanced inspection software suites.
  • Best Practices for Implementing Robotic Inspection:
    Mauricio Calva, NDE and Robotics Engineer at Chevron Technical Centre, shared valuable insights into best practices for implementing robotic inspection in industrial environments, particularly within the energy sector.

In addition to the enriching discussions, TWI MENA announced the upcoming Qatar event in May on robotic inspection in the energy sector. This workshop will address current challenges, limitations, and future needs in robotic inspection, providing attendees with actionable insights to drive innovation in their respective fields.
