North East Women in Engineering and Computing Network Launch

Wed, 22 June, 2022

TWI is proud to announce that the launch of the North East Women in Engineering and Computing Network (NEW-ECN) is taking place on 23 June 2022 at the TWI Technology and Training Centre North East.

The launch, which has been timed to coincide with International Women in Engineering Day, will bring together women engineers and computer scientists from regional universities, industry and local government for a workshop and networking event. The event, which is organised and co-hosted with Teesside University, is sponsored by The Tees Valley Combined Authority and Innovate UK.

The programme for the day includes an overview of Net Zero and a panel discussion Q&A about encouraging female inventors and innovators, featuring Laura Griffin (warranty and support manager, Sembcorp Energy Ltd), Dr Anh Phan (Senior lecturer in chemical engineering), and Dr Jo Douglas-Harris (Tyne & Tees cluster co-ordinator, Women's Engineering Society). There will also be plenty of opportunities for networking and tours of the facilities at TWI.

This year’s theme of International Women in Engineering Day is ‘Inventors and Innovators,’ to raise awareness of female investors who have changed lives across the world.
