New Scanning and Measurement System Installed at TWI

Tue, 30 August, 2022

We are pleased to announce that TWI Cambridge has installed a new GOM ATOS Q optical scanning and measurement system, supported by Central Scanning Limited, which is now ready for use on projects for our Industrial Members.

A flexible 3D scanner with interchangeable lenses, the ATOS Q offers high-precision measurements for small to medium-sized parts.

The ATOS Q has been developed for use by industry, delivering fully traceable measurement results even under harsh conditions. Dust-proof and splash-proof, the optical 3D sensor can capture information quickly to provide quality assurance on additively manufactured parts, cast parts, composite and plastic items, sheet metals and more.

We are currently investigating a range of applications for the scanner at TWI, including those related to joining, welding, brazing, composites and part scanning and reverse engineering.

You can find out more about the GOM scanner at TWI in this video with our principal project leader for technology, Paul Brooker:
