New 3D Scanning System Available for Use at TWI

Fri, 11 March, 2022

TWI has received delivery of a GOM Metrology ATOS Q 3D scanner from Central Scanning.

Central Scanning has been a leader in 3D scanning and 3D printing since 2006 and the ATOS Q is designed to provide flexible 3D scanning for complex measurement and inspection tasks across industry.

Interchangeable lenses allow the scanner to perform high precision measurements for small to medium sized parts, while the fixed camera position makes changing the measuring volume quick and easy.

Offering high-speed fringe projection and fast data processing with a high data throughput, the scanner operates on a triple scan principle with a blue light equaliser and a self-monitoring system to deliver precise measurement for inspection and reverse engineering applications.

The newly acquired 3D scanning system adds another level of capability to our existing technical offering, with TWI’s Principal Technology Project Leader, Paul Brooker saying, “These are exciting times for TWI with this new equipment, supplied by Central Scanning. This enables us to further develop our manufacturing support for Members with reverse/re-engineering of components and inspection, enhancing and supporting the delivery of single client projects for our Members.”

Nick Godfrey, Managing Director for Central Scanning said, “We are very pleased to be working with TWI. The scanner compliments their already fantastic array of equipment and combined technical knowledge, providing a great opportunity to offer the Members an additional capability to facilitate projects moving forward.”
