We are pleased to announce that EHLA Technology Lead, Josh Barras MWeldI, has recently achieved Chartered Engineer status through The Welding Institute.
Josh has over 7 years’ experience of applied laser metal deposition (LMD), in particular with developing solutions for deposition of crack susceptible materials for coatings, repair and additive manufacture.
It was also announced last year that he would be the recipient of the prestigious UKRI Future Leaders Fellowship, which has funded a new research team at TWI, led by Josh. Josh’s new team will focus on the novel Extreme High-Speed Laser Application (EHLA) coating and deposition technology, and develop TWI’s capabilities as the UK’s leading EHLA research centre.
Josh also recently presented at our Off Highway Sector webinar on Thursday 11 March, where we discussed some of the main issues and challenges that the sector faces and how TWI is working to address these.
