Showing Support for International Women in Engineering Day

Tue, 23 June, 2020

TWI, along with The Welding Institute and NSIRC, showed support for International Women in Engineering Day (23 June 2020) with a special lockdown Zoom meeting.

The meeting, which was organised by The Tipper Group, took the opportunity to celebrate gender diversity in engineering. Due to the circumstances of so many people working from home, this was a great opportunity for people to get together and share their experiences of lockdown – with children and pets welcome to attend too!

Employees came together to discuss matters such as managing home-schooling and caring responsibilities while working from home, as well as suggestions for future flexible working approaches once the COVID-19 crisis is over.

The lively discussion was not only a great opportunity to meet up but also showed our continuing support for diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

About The Tipper Group

The Tipper Group was launched by a group of engineers at TWI Ltd, The Welding Institute and the National Structural Integrity Centre (NSIRC) in autumn 2016. Originally created to support and inspire female engineers in welding, joining and associated technologies, the group has expanded its remit to support wider diversity and inclusion initiatives to provide inspiration, support and professional development. The Tipper Group holds events and provides networking opportunities throughout the year.
