TWI to host NNUMAN Community Event on 12-13 June

Thu, 30 May, 2019

TWI will host the 3rd NNUMAN Community Event on 12-13 June 2019, based around the theme of 'advanced welding for nuclear applications.'

New Nuclear Manufacturing (NNUMAN) Community works to promote networking for nuclear manufacturing R&D to offer opportunities for collaboration, cross disciplinary development, research proposal development and information exchange. The NNUMAN Community welcomes input from industry, academia and the High Value Manufacturing Catapault.

The event, which will take place at TWI’s headquarters near Cambridge, will begin with lunch on the first day before an afternoon working session on developments from current and recent research.

The second day will comprise a morning session, including a dissemination event for the BEIS Nuclear Innovation Programme, Advanced Manufacturing and Materials MATTEAR (Material/Manufacturing Technology Evaluation for Advanced Reactors) Phase 1 project, before lunch.

This will be followed by a brief review of current work on codes and standards before the meeting closes with a panel discussion on future developments in the field.

TWI has previously produced thick section reduced pressure electron beam welds in pressure vessel and stainless steels, which were then assessed by NNUMAN and MATTEAR project partners.
