Two teams from TWI entered the Cambridge Dragon Boat Festival on the River Cam on 5 September, 2026.
We joined 41 other teams for the annual event, which marked its 20th year and beat the £50,000 fundraising target for Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT) to help fund the Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital.
In addition to the dragon boat races, attendees were also treated to lion dances from the Cambridge Chinese community and a range of family-friendly activities.
The TWI crews placed 9th and 13th out of the 43 boats that entered, although our crew, ‘Admiral Hughes,’ did win the award for Fasted Mixed Crew and we just missed out on being in the final by 0.2 seconds, so things were closer than the final standings indicated!
As ever, it was a great day out for everybody involved and an excellent opportunity to help raise money for a worthy cause.
