Core Research Programme Members' Information

Tue, 28 July, 2026

The TWI's core research programme (CRP) aims to meet the needs of our Industrial Member companies. The most important challenges currently faced by industry are selected for investigation, with each project typically lasting for 1-3 years. The main areas covered by the CRP include engineering, materials, or manufacturing technologies. The CRP also serves to expand our existing knowledge, harnessing innovative thinking and approaches to develop new skills, products and services, systems and processes for the benefit of our Members, leading to reduced costs, and improved quality, safety and reliability. Around 50% of the annual Industrial Membership subscription is directed to fund the CRP, with each of the projects undertaken independently and partially by professional TWI project leaders to achieve the best possible result for industry.

The results of our core research programme projects can be accessed in a variety of ways by our Industrial Members, including:

  • Industrial Member / Full Reports – in-depth, detailed reports on completed CRP projects that include full technical details of the research and development
  • Report Abstracts – derived from the full reports. These are freely available and enable wider industry to access some of the learning identified through CRP projects
  • Webinars – High-quality webinars for Industrial Members providing useful information and advice derived from the CRP projects.
