TWI / The Welding Institute CEO, Caroline Gumble is heading to Scotland next week, where she is due to meet with several Industrial and Professional Members, as well as visiting two colleges that are involved in training the next generation of industry professionals.
Caroline will be visiting TWI Industrial Members and global defence specialists, Babcock International Group in Dunfermline. Babcock design, manufacture and support complex defence and critical assets across land, air, sea and space - as well as vital energy and security domains.
During her time in Scotland, Caroline will also visit BAE Systems’ Shipyard and Training Academy, both in Glasgow. Long-time Industrial Members, BAE deliver advanced, technology-led defence, aerospace and security solutions, helping their customers stay ahead of evolving threats across land, sea, air, cyber and space.
Also in Glasgow, Caroline will meet with WB Alloys, suppliers of welding equipment, consumables, maintenance and testing services, before heading to Renfrew to meet industrial services providers, Altrad and the National Manufacturing Institute Scotland (NMIS).
The visit ties in with The Welding Institute Scottish Branch Committee dinner in Glasgow, which Caroline will attend. She is also due to meet with Scottish Branch Treasurer and Institute Fellow, Eur Ing David W Millar. CEng, MPhil, EWE / IWE, FWeldI while in Glasgow.
Outside of the scheduled meetings with Industrial and Professional Members, Caroline will continue her dedication to closing the skills gap in industry and promoting STEM education with planned visits to two colleges.
Known for their employee training development and apprenticeships, Glasgow Clyde College are leaders in industry-relevant training that ensures students leave with the necessary skills and experience to transition to the next stage of their careers. As well as visiting Glasgow Clyde College, Caroline will head to Fife College’s new Dunfermline City Campus where she will be ready to discuss their modern apprenticeships.
This visit to Scotland continues Caroline’s efforts since her appointment as CEO of TWI / The Welding Institute to engage with our membership base, educational institutions and government for the advancement of industry.
