TWI Joint Industry Programme Proposal Manager, Sofia Sampethai sat down with Senior Engineer, Dibakor Boruah and Principal Engineer, and Phil McNutt to discuss cold spray in industry.
In the video, below, they delve into the applications for the process, such as coatings, repair of parts and additive manufacturing, as well as the benefits of using cold spray.
The short video also provides an exploration of cold spray developments, equipment, and advances at TWI and introduces a joint industry project TWI is running to help progress the industrialisation of cold spray repair. With a brief overview of materials that can be used with cold spray, the trio also discuss the cold spray capabilities on offer at TWI.
There was also time to introduce a Joint Industry Project (JIP) taking place at TWI around the industrialisation of Cold Spray repair. Although cold spray provides a cost effective and sustainable solution, there are still some challenges hindering the widespread adoption of the process. The project, which is still accepting sponsors, has already had interest from the nuclear and oil and gas sectors.
