TWI Experts to Present at ISAM Conference 2025

Wed, 28 May, 2025

TWI Technology Fellow, Colin Ribton, and TWI’s Senior Sector Manager for Space, Vito Di Pietro, are both due to attend and present at the ISAM Conference 2025 in Belfast.

The ISAM (In Orbit Servicing, Assembly and Manufacturing) Conference is taking place from 4-5 June, 2025, at the ICC Belfast, Northern Ireland’s only purpose-built international convention centre.

While both Colin and Vito will be attending and available to speak with fellow attendees about TWI’s capabilities during the conference, Colin is also due to present on the topic of electron beam welding in space while Vito will present on TWI’s perspective on assurance in space.

As one of our Technology Fellows, Colin is a world-leading authority in his field and is the inventor or co-inventor on several granted patents. He was also involved in the creation of an electron beam welding gun designed and manufactured at TWI that made the first-ever autonomous weld in space.

Having attained his Masters in Electronic Engineering from the Polytechnic of Turin, Italy, Vito joined TWI in 2020 where he worked on both fiction and electron beam welding and their implementation in production. More recently, he has been strongly involved in TWI’s work as the European Space Agency’s Technology Broker for the UK.

About ISAM 2025

The In Orbit Servicing, Assembly and Manufacturing (ISAM) Conference 2025 has been organised by the UK Space Agency and the Satellite Applications Catapult, bringing together experts from government, academia, industry, and end users to shape the future of ISAM and advance the sustainable use of near-Earth space.

ISAM 2025 builds on the success of the In Orbit Servicing and Manufacturing (IOSM) Conference 2024, delivering roundtable discussions focused on crucial topics as well as presentations and conference talks covering key themes including enabling technologies, regulation, skills, applications and in-orbit security. There will also be academic poster sessions, industry exhibitors and networking opportunities for attendees.
