Three experts from our numerical modelling team were invited to present at the NAFEMS World Congress 2025 in Salzburg, Austria.
The congress is the world’s largest independent, international conference dedicated exclusively to engineering simulation. Alongside networking opportunities with end-users, software vendors, consultants and academics, this global event offers insights into new technologies and innovative simulation techniques.
Held from 19-22 May, 2025, the NAFEMS World Congress 2025 provided some 320 presentations across 80 dedicated presentation sessions and welcomed 650 delegates across the four days.
Among the presenters at this 20th Congress were TWI’s Principal Simulation and Modelling Engineer, Anas Yaghi; Chief Modelling and Simulation Engineer, Michael Roy; and Simulation and Modelling Engineer, Oliver Found.
Anas delivered three presentations, as follows:
- NAFEMS Benchmark Examples of Buckling Occurrence, Residual Stresses and Bending Distortion in Additive Manufacturing
- Incremental Layer Deposition and Material Property Manipulation for the Simulation of Powder Bed Fusion
- Calibration of Numerical Models of Laser Powder Bed Fusion with Melt Pool Measurements
Michael also delivered three presentations:
- Development of Modelling Guidelines for Welding in the Nuclear Industry
- Efficiency Improvement for the Simulation of Metal Additive Manufacturing
- Using FEA to Enhance Experiments in Thermal Processes
Oliver was invited to deliver two presentations:
- Non-linear Magnetisation Architecture for Improved Magnetic Performance
- Machine Learning Based Surrogate FEA Modelling
We were honoured to be invited to present at the congress and pleased to have been able to bring our expertise and experience to the event through the contributions of Anas, Michael and Oliver.
