We are delighted to announce that Chief Engineer, Scott Andrews has celebrated 30 years of service at TWI.
Following studies in architecture, Scott joined TWI as an apprentice technician in October 1995. As part of his apprenticeship, TWI supported his education as an engineer, during which he was able to work across several different departments where he was not only made contacts across the business, but also learnt a lot about the operations of TWI as a whole.
His main area of expertise has been working with polymers, composites and sealants with a focus on plastic welding solutions for a wide range of industry sectors. Having worked closely with industries including medical and automotive, Scott also oversees TWI’s plastic welding training offering. This includes developing and delivering training courses in areas such as welding of membranes, plastic pipes, and sheets, among others. He is also a chief examiner for plastics welding, allowing him to pass on his knowledge and experience to the next generation of experts.
During his time at TWI, Scott has been involved in many important projects in support of our Industrial Members, including medical devices, such as the development of a welding process for nebulisers on behalf of Phillips, and a large number of automotive components. He has also been integral in a number of projects for the oil and gas and aerospace industries, helping deliver solutions for a range of industrial applications. Scott also led the development of wood welding, which has begun to gain real interest for a variety of products across different sectors.
Speaking on his 30 years at TWI, Scott said, “I have been honoured to have worked with a great number of influential and passionate experts during my time at TWI as well as having the opportunity to meet and become friends with a great many of our Industrial Member company contacts and training clients. My role in providing plastic welding solutions and innovations has seen me work on a huge range of applications across all industry sectors, which has kept things interesting and varied during my time at TWI.”
We would like to congratulate Scott on reaching his career milestone with us and thank him for his years of dedicated service to both TWI and for our Industrial Members.
