Celebrating INWED 2025 at TWI

Tue, 24 June, 2025

Monday, 23 June, 2025 was International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) 2025, a global celebration to highlight the work of women engineers and raise the profile of careers in engineering for women and girls everywhere.

At TWI, we celebrated the day by holding an informal gathering with tea, cake and conversation at our headquarters near Cambridge. This provided us with an opportunity to honour the contributions and future of women in engineering at TWI and around the world.

As well as offering an opportunity to reflect on our progress, recognise achievements and inspire future change, the gathering offered a great opportunity to meet with fellow colleagues.

TWI’s Tipper Group Chair, Samantha Thomas said, “It was good to see the support for INWED 2025, with a good range of staff from different functions attending the gathering, of which one-third were men. It provided us a great opportunity for informal conversations about our work and careers – as well as cake!”

INWED aligns closely with our ongoing commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and serves as a reminder of the importance of creating an environment where all voices and talents are recognised and valued.

Celebrating the work and progress of women in engineering not only strengthens our community and provides valuable insights, ideas and viewpoints, but also helps inspire the next generation of innovators.
