TWI Technology Fellow to Present at AMI Cables Event

Mon, 04 March, 2024

TWI Technology Fellow, Dr Alan Taylor, FRSC FIMMM has been invited to present at this year’s Applied Market Information Ltd (AMI) ‘Cables’ event.

Cables has been providing an annual platform for the wire and cable supply chain for 24 years, helping the industry understand and discuss the latest trends, developments and innovations, and stay competitive while discovering new business opportunities.

This year’s event is taking place from 5-7 March 2024 at the Hilton Düsseldorf in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Dr Taylor will deliver his presentation, ‘Introduction to PFAS and the Emerging Business Risk,’ at 9:20 AM on Wednesday, 6 March, 2024.

The use of fluorocarbon based chemicals and fluoropolymers (PFAS) has been called into question with regulatory changes for their use due to their adverse environmental impact and the potential for bioaccumulation and entry into the food chain.

Dr Taylor will deliver an overview of the regulatory landscape around PFAS materials and provide an update on the REACH proposal. He will also provide a review of PFAS supply side challenges and offer mitigation steps that can reduce business risk.

The subject of the changing regulations for PFAS is of interest across a range of industries, where their chemical resilience has made them essential to the successful operation of many critical components.
