TWI Expert Presenting at WAMS 24

Wed, 21 February, 2024

TWI’s Friction Welding and Processing Section Manager, Kate Franklin is delivering three presentations at this year’s Worldwide Advanced Manufacturing Symposium (WAMS) in Orlando, Florida, USA.

The event, which is taking place from 19-23 February, 2024, promotes and facilitates discussions and technical exchanges among leaders from a range of engineering disciplines related to space, air and land transportation.

Bringing together the aeronautics, land transportation and space engineering manufacturing communities, WAMS seeks to maximise cross-fertilisation opportunities and promote cross-sector technical and commercial exchanges.

Certification and standardisation authorities from relevant authorities are also being represented at WAMS 24 as industries benefit from Industry 4.0 technologies, manufacturing digitalisation and automation, additive manufacturing, cyber security, virtual testing, big data, quality control and the growth of the ‘Smart Factory.’

Kate will be presenting at the Emerging Materials Session 2 on Wednesday 21 February, where she will speak on, ‘Innovative Transport Thermal Management with Liquid Cooling Plates Manufactured Via Coreflow® Friction Stir Channelling’ at 3pm.

Then, on Thursday, 22 February, 2024, Kate will partake in the Welding and Joining Technologies: Solid-State Welding Processes Session, where she will present on ‘Friction Stir Welding of Thin Liners for Hydrogen Tanks’ at 1pm and ‘Linear Friction Welding of External Features on Spacecraft Structures’ at 2pm.
