We are pleased to announce that Winbro Group Technologies has become an Industrial Member of TWI.
Winbro are global leaders in high-speed precision electro discharge machining, laser ablation and laser drilling and cutting technologies.
They are the designers and suppliers of the machines used by major aviation jet engine and power generation equipment manufacturers to produce precision film cooling holes for high temperature turbine applications. Winbro also delivers precision drilling of doped single crystal silicon ingots as used in atomic layer etching gas distribution plates, fuel cell components and medical devices.
Uniquely, Winbro provides customers with a complete end-to-end service. Winbro can demonstrate proof of concept in one of their technology centres, produce prototypes and deliver a final solution which may be a machine with turnkey tooling and programming, a bespoke machine system or outsourced manufacture of customer parts in their advanced machining centres.
Speaking on their membership, Winbro said, “The intention is to collaborate on the development of high-productivity laser welding systems which address the needs of the electric vehicle, medical and other high-value engineering sectors,” adding, “These markets are currently often served by robot-based welding systems which do not always provide the necessary levels of precision and occupy a much larger footprint.”
