As part of the centenary celebrations of The Welding Institute, we have been reaching out to our Professional Members to hear their insights into being Members of the Institute as well as learning about their careers in engineering.
Having joined The Welding Institute in 1963, Tony Hutchings SenMWeldI is one of our longest-serving Professional Members.
Starting with a Graduate Membership, Tony studied welding and metallurgy before embarking on a career that spans petroleum refining, the chemical industry, and the offshore oil and gas industry in the UK and overseas.
Tony spoke to us about a career that has taken him from the UK to Iran, Brunei, and Qatar, as well as his views on professional membership and some advice for his former self.
