NIC to Hold Thermoplastic Pipe Welding Webinar

TWI Technology Fellow, Mike Troughton will bring decades of experience to an upcoming webinar for the Non-Metallic Innovation Centre (NIC).

This online event is due to take place from 1-2 pm (GMT) on 15 February, 2024, covering the topic of, ‘Welding Techniques for Thermoplastic Pressure Pipes.’

Mike brings vast experience to this event with over 30 years’ working in research for the plastics industry. His role at TWI sees him coordinate all R&D, consultancy and training activities related to plastics. Mike’s expertise encompasses the welding, inspection and mechanical testing of polyethylene (PE) pipes.

In addition, he has written more than 30 technical papers and edited the ‘Handbook of Plastics Joining – A Practical Guide,’ as well as managing over 150 research and consultancy projects for TWI clients.

As a member of various ISO, CEN, ASTM, IIW, AWS and ASME committees on the welding of plastics and plastics pipes, as well as being Chairman of the British Standards Committee on plastics welding, Mike’s expertise is well recognised.

This event will allow you to take advantage of Mike experience and expertise as he details current welding techniques for joining unreinforced thermoplastic pressure pipes and the potential for these techniques to be used for joining reinforced thermoplastic pipes.
