TWI’s Thermal Processing Technologies section (TPT) has recently welcomed Alessandro Sergi to the team as a Project Leader. Alessandro will be working on brazing and powder metallurgy related technologies.
Alessandro is obtaining is PhD on ‘Hot Isostatic Pressing of High Temperature Materials’ at the University of Birmingham, with particular focus on the influence of powder characteristics on microstructure and mechanical properties of as-HIPed parts.
Alessandro is an NSIRC PhD Student with the University of Birmingham, sponsored by TWI as part of the H2020 funded SUPREME project 31611.
Before his PhD, Alessandro obtained a BSc and MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Calabria, Italy.
During his career, he has developed expertise in powder metallurgy, metallurgy of Ni-based superalloys and refractory metals, hot isostatic pressing and diffusion bonding.
We’d like to wish Alessandro a warm welcome to the team.
