TWI to Hold Dedicated Space Industry Webinar

Mon, 04 October, 2021

TWI is holding a webinar dedicated to the space industry on 10 November 2021.

We have been supporting space exploration via the delivery of advanced technologies for decades, working with organisations such as the European Space Agency and having our technology used for last year’s historic NASA SpaceX launch as well as having our technology land on one of Saturn’s moons.

Our knowledge of precision welding techniques such as friction stir welding, linear and rotary friction welding and electron beam have all found use in the space sector, while our knowledge of laser processing, coatings, materials, additive manufacture and advanced non-destructive inspection all have ready applications for the industry.

TWI also has a wealth of experience of helping when things go wrong, through our expertise in failure investigation.

In addition, our work in other sectors, such as aerospace and automotive has provided us with knowledge that can transfer to space applications. This includes areas that are closely tied to the global space sector’s new phase of technical and commercial development, including lightweighting, dissimilar materials combinations, novel propulsion systems and net zero emissions.

TWI and our Industrial Members are at the forefront on many of these activities, which will be covered during the webinar.

You can find out more and register to attend this online event, which is open to both Members and non-Members of TWI, here.
