This exclusive TWI webinar discussed in detail some of the main issues and challenges that the off highway sector faces and the great work TWI has been involved in to date. The webinar, which took place on Thursday 11 March, was well attended, with over 100 attendees on the day.
The webinar covered the following technology areas presented by TWI staff:
- Lightweighting – discussion on TWI’s advancements in the Innovate UK-funded Elsoha Project, presented by Chris Allen
- Typical fatigue issues that occur in service – discussion into TWI’s non-commercially sensitive research, presented by Jazeel Chukkan
- Robotic welding and distortion management – pros and cons for robotic welding methods and numerical modelling techniques for reducing distortion in manufacture, presented by Lei Xu
- Chrome replacement techniques – discussion of relevant spray technologies as well as EHLA (Extreme High Speed Laser) coatings, presented by Melissa Riley and Josh Barras
