IIW Welded Art Photographic Exhibition 2021 Released

Tue, 20 July, 2021

TWI is proud to announce that we have two entries in this year’s IIW Welded Art Photographic Exhibition, which was created by the International Institute of Welding with assistance from Aristea.

The IIW 2021 Digital Collection is now available to view online, including the exhibits created by TWI staff, ‘The Great “Metal” Wave Off Kanagawa’ (pages 52-53) and ‘The Cutting Edge’ (pages 60-61).

TWI Team Leader, Simon Richardson’s stunning artwork is an adaptation of the famous ‘Great Wave Off Kangawa’ by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai, and was created using Gas Tungsten Arc Welding on 3mm thick stainless steel.

‘The Cutting Edge’ was a collaborative project between a number of TWI experts, coordinated by Senior Technician, Stuart Page. The work was created following a request in 2018 by the Worshipful Company of Armourers and Brasiers for a showpiece to be displayed at Armourers’ Hall, London. The finished work was created using a range of techniques, materials and innovations that showcase many of the developments made in joining and coatings by TWI over the decades.

You can find out more about the two TWI pieces and see the rest of the amazing IIW Welded Art Photographic Exhibition here
