Numerical Modelling Expert Attends International AM Workshop

Thu, 06 February, 2020

TWI’s numerical modelling manager, Tyler London was invited to speak at the SIP Additive Manufacturing International Workshop held in Tsukuba, Japan.

The event, which was organised by the Japan National Institute for Material Science (NIMS) and the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), took place between 28 and 29 January, 2020.

Tyler’s presentation, titled ‘Advances in Numerical Modelling of Additive Manufacturing Processes,’ took place on the second day of the workshop. He spoke on TWI’s activities in Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) and how simulation technology can help improve our understanding of additive manufacturing and optimise processing conditions to achieve better performing AM parts.

The workshop was a good opportunity for Tyler to promote TWI’s work and research in numerical modelling and additive manufacturing, while also providing the chance to hear from experts from other organisations such as QuesTek Innovations, Max Plank Institute for Iron Research and Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems.

The workshop also allowed TWI to build on our presence and Industrial Membership base in Japan.
