TWI has been approached by NHS England and The Royal Academy of Engineering to ask for volunteers to assist in a range of engineering requirements to enable to continued delivery of frontline healthcare services in the light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Due to the unprecedented situation, engineers and technicians are now required to work alongside clinicians to help deliver on new and existing healthcare provision, including the medical facilities being built at Excel London and two other field hospitals in Manchester and Birmingham to treat COVID-19 patients.
With time being of the essence, engineering volunteers will be required at these sites and also in regional hospitals within the next few days.
TWI and The Welding Institute have been asked to share this letter alongside a job description detailing the requirements. The letter includes a link to a form which volunteers should complete in order to register their skills and offer of help. The database of applicants will be maintained by The Royal Academy of Engineers but volunteers will be selected by the NHS based on necessity.
On behalf of TWI and NHS England, we would like to thank you for your commitment and assistance at this time.
