2019 UK Welding and Joining Exhibition

Wed, 26 June, 2019

Over 140 delegates attended the UK Welding and Joining Exhibition, held at TWI’s headquarters near Cambridge on 22 May 2019.

The exhibition featured 27 exhibition stands from TWI’s Industrial Membership OEM community who were on hand through the day to demonstrate their products to delegates.

As arc welding and joining processes continue to evolve TWI works with its Industrial Member supplier network to understand advances in equipment and consumable technologies, and pass this on to its wider Membership and beyond.

The aim of the exhibition was to showcase the latest process innovations and technologies, and give delegates the opportunity to explore what is currently on offer.

Running alongside the exhibition were tours of TWI’s state-of-the-art laboratories, which proved eye-opening for many delegates who were unaware of the depth and breadth of TWI’s cutting-edge work in joining and surface engineering technology.

A popular addition to the exhibition was a 'Meet the Expert' Zone which provided the opportunity for delegates to have confidential one-to-one meetings with TWI’s engineering experts and scientists.

Teams from The Welding Institute, TWI Training  and TWI Certification offered advice and information on career and skills development.

The exhibition was officially opened by TWI Research Director Paul Woollin.

Watch our short video of the day and hear from exhibitors, delegates and TWI staff including TWI CEO Aamir Khalid.

‘This year’s exhibition has been very successful. We’ve seen an increase in exhibitors and attendees year-on-year, and feedback shows that there is a clear demand for the exhibition to get bigger and better. We are now working on our plans for 2020 with more exhibition stands and more for delegates to see and do planned. Watch this space for an announcement about next year’s date and activities.’

Feedback from exhibitors and delegates

  • ‘We always enjoy this event with TWI as the visitors are 'good quality'.  We engage with new customers as well as existing ones.’  Huntingdon Fusion Techniques Ltd
  • ‘It should become the premier welding exhibition in the UK.’  ESAB Speciality Alloys
  • ‘The most valuable part of the day was speaking to the experts. We wanted to weld stainless-steel to navel brass, the experts gave us all the info and contacts we needed to be able to braise the two components together. We are cable specialist so therefore we are always looking to broaden our knowledge on welding and abrasive metals.’  Meg Lodge, CableFirst
  • ‘Excellent forum to interact directly with the leading manufacturers and service providers. The diversity in the stalls resonated very well with the important themes of the modern industry ie data management, HS&E, automation in welding and virtual reality applications.’  Archit Sharma, Rolls-Royce
