TWI Technology Fellow, John Wintle Honoured by the IMechE

TWI Technology Fellow, John Wintle was awarded the Donald Julius Groen Prize 2018 by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

The award was given to John in recognition of his years of work related to pressure equipment. The award stated that John was given the award due to his “committed and long-standing contribution to the pressure equipment community, consistently upholding exceptionally high standards in both industry and academia.”

The Donald Julius Groen Prize is given annually, with John’s award being presented by the Pressure Systems Group of the IMechE.

Speaking on having received the prize, John Wintle said, “I regard it as a great privilege to have won this award and feel honoured by it.”

He continued, “I thank my colleagues for their encouragement and support over the years as well as the Pressure Group Systems board for nominating me.”

John Wintle has worked at TWI for 22 years and the prize reflects the valuable work he has done related to the management of ageing plants, related standards and professional committees.

His recognition is another demonstration of the industry expertise that exists at TWI and we would like to offer our congratulations to John for his prize.
