TWI sent four representatives to the Greenlight 4 Girls event at the Silverstone circuit near Towcester on 30 October 2019.

The free event saw 50 local girls, aged 11-15, invited along to participate in interactive activities, meet role models and learn more about STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) careers.

The inaugural event included workshops run by Stanley Black and Decker, a behind the scenes tour of the Envision Virgin Racing facilities, a chance to build their own robots, the opportunity to examine a race car powered by battery technology, making polymer worms, and TWI’s ever-popular Welding with Chocolate workshop.

TWI and The Welding Institute were represented by students Jessica Taylor and Pedro Santos as well as Project Technology Leader Muhammad Shaheer and Apprentice Technician Bethany Richards.
