TWI has submitted an application to develop a Battery Technology Assembly Centre in response to Industrial Member demand. The new centre will fill a gap in the current national strategy, providing an independent process development capability to enable OEM powertrain manufacturers to develop their manufacturing processes in conjunction with leading experts in joining and process engineering.
The new centre will support the current battery assembly work that is taking place at TWI and will pull together our expertise in this area, from cells to modules and vehicle sub-assemblies, including the associated testing.
The centre will unite current and next generation assembly techniques for battery technology for the automotive, aerospace and rail sectors.
