TWI Industrial Member Wins at Made In Wales Awards

Fri, 18 October, 2019

TWI is proud to announce that a long-standing Industrial Member and frequent development collaborator and equipment supplier took home an award at the ‘Made in Wales Awards 2019.’

A fantastic evening was had recently at Cardiff City Hall for the Insider ‘Made in Wales Awards 2019’.

Hosted by journalist and broadcaster, Sian Lloyd, the evening kicked off as all awards ceremonies should, with a drinks reception. Faheen Khan from Make UK spoke of the importance of manufacturing, stating that a high percentage of people would only rank the United Kingdom in the top 100 when, in actual fact, we are in the top 10 - which is a great achievement.

Before the main event kicked off, dinner was served followed by an interesting talk from Stuart West, the non-executive director of Biocatalysts.

The room was filled with companies from different industries, making the event a hive of interesting conversation. Some innovative companies were nominated including Rescape Innovations Ltd who use virtual reality to help patients go through painful cancer treatments. The standard in the room was high with awards handed out by various influential people.

Nominated for two awards was South West Wales’ Huntingdon Fusion Techniques.   Based in Burry Port, the weld purging experts had some big competition but didn’t walk away empty handed.   They were delighted to receive ‘Manufacturer of the Year (under £25m),’ which was presented to them by sponsor, Blake Morgan. Sian Lloyd, who was compering the evening, personally congratulated Managing Director and CEO Georgia Gascoyne for the great achievement.

There was an overwhelming sense of pride and achievement in the room for everyone, with many staying to socialise after all the formalities.
