TWI Helps Promote UK / India Initiative

Wed, 03 July, 2019

TWI was among the businesses invited to partake in a new initiative to promote increased collaboration between the UK and India.

The UK government’s Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is working closely, through UK-India Business Council (UKIBC), with the Indian government’s “Invest India”. This is an investment promotion and facilitation agency to promote business opportunities between the two countries.

Invest India, supported by UKIBC, took a roadshow around the UK, visiting industry and academic institutions in London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Birmingham, with the goal of promoting a newly formed UK-India Advanced Manufacturing Advocacy.

TWI joined a number of UK delegates, including two of its UK Industrial Members with significant Indian investments, to discuss future opportunities.

With a push to encourage more UK companies to set up in India, this initiative ties in with TWI’s goals to help develop best practice industrial procedures and practices in the region. For example; there are already plans for TWI to promote friction and forge processes across end user sectors in India, including automotive, defence and rail.
