TWI is to present at the 6th International Conference on Scientific and Technical Advances on Friction Stir Welding and Processing (FSWP19) which takes place in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium from 11-13 September.
TWI will provide an overview of our research efforts into thick section FSW, Refill Friction Stir Spot Welding (RFSSW) – a zero mass-adding spot-joining process, Robotic Friction Stir Welding – a process that allows for 3D weld paths to be achieved, and the game-changing heat exchanger manufacturing technology of Friction Stir Channelling (FSch).
Five presentations will be provided by TWI at the international conference, including:
- Corner Stationary Shoulder FSW for Aerostructures
- Integration of Thermal Management Networks into Aluminium Structures by Stationary Shoulder Friction Stir Channelling
- Refill Friction Stir Spot Welding Parameter Optimisation for Transport Industry Aluminium Alloys
- Refill Friction Stir Spot Welding (RFSSW) of Aerospace Aluminium Alloys
- Friction stir welding of thick section aluminium alloys
The TWI experts attending the conference include:
- Dr Jeroen De Backer, Principal Project Leader
- Dr Joao Gandra, Principal Project Leader
- Mr Pedro Santos, NSIRC PhD Student
Recognised as one of the international community’s leading friction-processing events, this conference offers the opportunity to get up to date with the latest friction processing advancements, while networking with a global community.
The event will feature experts from more than several dozen companies, including established market leaders and research institutions.
